Topnotch summer event at the „jetlake" in Feldkirchen: the Wakeboard WCH.

2006 – the World Championships summer! In June the whole world is excited about football and in July the wakeboarders guarantee for hot WCH action. From July 26th – 30th 2006 the fourth Cable Wakeboard World Championships take place in Feldkirchen, Upper Austria. 160 competitors from over 20 nations are expected to participate in this international event at the top modern cable „jetlake". In 8 categories (youth, juniors, open, masters –respectively women and men) the wakeboarders will crown the wakeboarding World Champions.

The ONE WAKEBOARD World Championships’06 presented by NOKIA – pros from all over the world are guarantors for spectacular performances at this huge event. Host country Austria counts on its topnotch wakeboarders, Daniel Fetz, Gerald Maurer and youngster Manuel Kaltenbach. From the waterside, the spectators surely will root for all the riders: while competing, speeding along the jetlake, jumping off the obstacles and performing amazing tricks like triple rotations. The WCH titles will be defended by Bernhard Hinterberger (GER) and Denise de Haan (NED), who already have been on the winners’ rostrum in the "open" class at the ECH in Feldkirchen in 2004. The Austrians and Europe’s dominating wakeboarders from Germany and the Netherlands will have to face tough competition: above all, stars like Rob Mapp, Josh Rice and Chad Forrest from the US, the cradle of wakeboarding; not to forget about all the other riders, specially the experienced pros from Australia (Daniel Pyne, Matt Wilkings), England (Ben Hitch, Tom Watson, John Tully), Hungary (Csaba Ekes, Balasz Bakro) or France (Bertrand Oustrieres).

The ONE WAKEBOARD WCH’06 presented by NOKIA offer 5 days with sportive performances at the highest level, live music events on the open air stage and a various side event program. 20,000 spectators are expected at the boiling „jetlake" in Feldkirchen, the rocking event of this summer!

 

 




25 000 spectators, 153 riders from 20 nations, beach feeling in Upper Austria, hot concerts and brilliant wakeboarding:

the ONE Wakeboard World Championships presented by NOKIA in Feldkirchen were the season highlight of the cable wakeboarders - Titles in the pro class "Open" for Julia Bormann from Germany and French rider Peyrichou

The 4th IWSF Cable Wakeboarding World Championships wrapped up yesterday with French rider Laurent Peyrichou taking first place, followed by US cable boy Rob Mapp in second and Emil Tzolov from Bulgaria in third. In the womens competition it was Julia Bormann who took home to Germany the title. Serbian rider Milica Gluvajic came in second, Kinga Horvath from Hungary ended up on third position.



For the first time in the WCH history in cable wakeboarding the German Bernhard Hinterberger was beaten. The 3 times titlewinner felt in the semifinals. The new gold medailist is Laurent Pyrichou, who was definitely the rider of the day, going huge in his runs, showing amazing tricks like a „Backroll to blind Nuclear Grab".

 

 

 

 


To celebrate the end of the games the legendary "Dog Eat Dog" played a live concert for the the riders, teams, fans and media, who were all enthusiasted about the event and the unbelievable atmosphere around the "jetlake" area. They will come back next summer for another great wakeboard festival.
