RUSSIA WON AN OPPORTUNITY TO WELCOME THE WAKEBOARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008

The first Cable Wakeboard World Championships held in Russia will take place between the 4th and the 7th of September. The place for the event to be held is famous Russian resort – Anapa.

On the 19th of May the IWSF (International Waterski Federation) confirmed the start of realization of the Cable Wakeboard World Championships. 150 top athletes from all over the world will be expected in Anapa between the 4th and the 7th of September to compete for the title of cable wakeboard champion in the first wakeboard contest of such a scale held in Russia.

Wakeboarding – is a new, dynamically growing water sport: it involves riding and making tricks on the board (wakeboard) after motor boat or a cable. Becoming a home for the Championship 2008, Russia stood up to three further European competitors. The decisive factor for the committee has been the professional application of the cableway stadium «SKI-RIXEN-SOUTH» which is situated in the water area of the Anapa seaport and sees over 7 thousand sportsmen annually. It is equipped with the latest and the most up-to-date cable-way in Europe. The other determinative factor was the unlimited promise on the part of the municipality to support the event with every spendable resources.

The fact that Anapa has been chosen as the very place for the Championships proves the right of 60th session of the World Association of the Water- and Climate Treatment which confirmed Anapa to be «The World Best resort region». Indeed, the championship being held in our city will attract not only tourists’ attention, but will also gain the investors’ support, because it is an obvious sign for city to attract interest, being developed, the sign of its stability, security and confident future. The resort comes to the International arena and the city’s Administration will be glad to support its sport life».

The fifth in succession, Cable Wakeboard World Championships 2008 will be held between the 4th and the 7th of September in the sea water stadium of Anapa «SKI-RIXEN-UG».This event has all chances to become both the greatest trendsports- and lifestyle-event in Anapa during the last few years and the great step in the Russian Waterski sport development as well.
